Act 3 Continuation.

[CHILDREN run into the room, followed closely by NURSE]

Nurse: [Shooing them] Children, go back to your rooms! It's much past your bed time!

Children: Daddy, where is Mommy going?

Torvald: [After much deliberation] She will be gone for a while. She has some business to take care of. But she will be back soon enough. 

Nurse: Go back to bed now.

[CHILDREN run out of the room]

Nurse: Where did Nora go?

Torvald: [With a pained expression] She has left me...left us.  She says she needs to find herself and become independent.

Nurse: Did she say anything about coming back? About the children?

Torvald: She said the only way we could get back together is if we each changed so much that we could have a "real marriage".  

Nurse: And the children?

Torvald: [With a look towards the childrens' bedroom] She said that she was never a real mother and they are better off without her.

Nurse: [gasps] We have to go after her! She can't just leave her babies!

Torvald: There is no use.  I tried my best, but in the end it's her decision.  The only thing left for me to do is hope I can change, for her.

Nurse: What a concept! It must be a great challenge!

Torvald: Indeed it will.  But I must do it! There is no other way for me!

Nurse: You care that much?

Torvald: Why, of course I do! What would give you the notion that I don't?

Nurse: You didn't exactly show it in your every day interactions. Why, I imagine that's partially why she left!

Torvald: Excuse me! I don't need to take any of your nay-say.  I will do everything in my power to bring her back! I swear it.

Nurse: So be it, Mr. Helmer.
